Body & Space
Experiencing space is one of the most important achievements of our existence. But how is the body intertwined with space? We understand the world, things, other people and ourselves through our bodies. It defines an entity in relation to space and has a shape that is related to its surroundings. While the motionless and figurative body makes a firm statement through its relationship to space, the moving and living body begins a dialogue with space through its immense number of successive positions and minimal changes. The body reacts to the space, just as the space reacts to the body and its spatial design almost forces it to adopt an attitude. What possibilities does a photographer have to show this dialogue between the body and space in a single photo or in a series of static photos? Is it possible to show an attitude or movement with just one photo? How can the space be adapted to the body and the body to the space?
