Thirty young photographers among students of Universidad de los Andes and Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano had in three different workshops the opportunity to immerse themselves in professional photography with the renowned Ruven Afanador. The week-long workshops allowed participants to develop a discourse, based on images, that allows them to enhance their own way of looking or capturing: investigating what inspires them, what makes them unique and what drives their knowledge to stay current in a world of immediate images. In a constant dialogue between the students and Ruven Afanador, the workshop set out to create a favorable space for photographic creation, where challenges and realities were confronted to generate a professional result.
Portrait Mode
In 30 minutes sessions the students had to interpret a famous character and had to solve everything they considered necessary from makeup artist, lighting to styling to be able to take the photo. The participants had the chance to make portraits of famous actors like the Artists Collective TEATRO DEL EMBUSTE (2016) and El Bosque encantado (2017), pop singers like Chocquibtown, MaRTINA LA PELIGROSA and Naty Botero (2017) and GENDER FLUID Persons (2018) at legendary locations in Bogotá like the ODEÓN space (2016), the Plaza de Torros Santamaria (2017) and the creative center TEXTURA (2018).

For the fashion modality, each student was given two complete outfits from different fashion designers: the ARKITECT collaboration in the hands of OLGA PIEDRAHITA (2016) and young colombian fashion designers (2017/2018). The photographs were taken at the Sabana Station (2016), Santo Domingo School of Arts and Crafts (2017) and the Hipódromo (2018). Each student achieved 4 to 6 images in which they developed the concept that the clothes transmitted to them.

At the end of a labor-intensive week, all final works were presented and celebrated to a wide audience in a public exhibition.
